EVALUATION AND FEEDBACK

Evaluation: Learners

Attitudes

Beginning in the fall of 2015, learners are given a post-curriculum attitudinal survey regarding their comfort with covered topics, their thoughts on curriculum design, and their use of the online asynchronous resources. Starting in 2016 this survey will be conducted in tandem with the medical knowledge quiz at the beginning and end of each academic year. Results will be compiled and used to guide curriculum revision.

2014-2015 Results:

Medical Knowledge

Beginning in July of 2015, a knowledge assessment quiz was given at the beginning of the year. Quiz questions were drafted directly off of the goals and objectives from content pages. This quiz will be repeated at the end of the year (June 2016) to assess for both areas of strength and areas for improvement.

As of the fall of 2015, we are vetting the knowledge assessment quiz using the Delphi technique with a group of academic emergency medicine attendings. We will update the quiz content and grading rubric with the results of this process.

The medical knowledge quiz is not posted here in an attempt to preserve the integrity of the exercise for the learners. If you are an educator interested in access to the quiz, please email EMFundamentals@gmail.com and we will send you a copy.

Evaluation: Curriculum

Learners are assigned a brief online evaluation after each weekly conference session. These evaluations are hosted on the residency's central web application which tracks responses and sends email reminders for incomplete evaluations. The results of these evaluations are also compiled centrally and used to guide curriculum revision.

Feedback

Links for participants to send feedback via email were added to all content pages in the spring of 2015. This feedback is compiled centrally and will be used to improve the curriculum in real time.
