Goals
  • Resident will be comfortable with set-up and basic functions of a manual defibrillator

Learning Objectives


When using the manual defibrillator, resident will demonstrate the ability to:
  • Power device on and off
  • Connect peripherals
    • Cardiac monitor
    • Blood pressure monitor
      • Cuff
      • Arterial Line
    • Pulse oximeter
    • EtCO2 monitor
    • Pads
    • CPR feedback puck
  • Change modes
    • Monitor
    • Pace
    • AED
    • Defibrillate / Cardiovert
  • Toggle sync function
  • Manipulate charge
    • Generate
    • Dispel
    • Deliver (synchronized)
    • Deliver (asynchronous)
Resident will be able to:
  • Define and differentiate defibrillation and cardioversion
  • Describe and demonstrate proper pad placements
